Recipe of the Week - Parmesan Herb Bubble Loaf by Wen Zientek-Sico
Think of hot, soft bread rolls coated in butter, Parmesan cheese, and herbs and baked until golden brown...all assembled into a very attractive bundle for entertaining or gift giving. That is what this recipe is, and it is very good!
Parmesan Herb Bubble Loaf This bread is almost as fun to make as it is to eat. No need for butter on the table, these rolls are already buttered and dipped in a mixture of cheese and herbs before baking in a tube pan for a pull apart savory loaf of bread that can't be beat. 1 1/2 pounds frozen bread dough, thawed 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese 3 teaspoons crumbled dried Italian herbs 1 teaspoon garlic powder 6 tablespoons melted butter
Heavily grease a tube pan and set aside. In a small bowl mix together the cheese, herbs, and garlic powder. Divide the dough into 24 small rolls. Dip each roll into the butter and then coat with the cheese mixture. Layer the rolls in the prepared pan, making sure to balance the dough evenly in the pan. Cover with a clean towel and place in a warm area. Let rise until double, about one hour. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped. Cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes, then remove to a serving plate. Serve hot.
